Living in Serbia


This electronic service available on the eGovernment Portal enables the registration of foreigners in Serbia wishing to exercise their right to temporary residence and/or permanent settlement in the Republic of Serbia (hereinafter referred to as: the Service). It is provided by the Ministry of the Interior (hereinafter referred to as: the Ministry)

Registration of Service users

The Service may be used by foreigners registered on the eGovernment Portal (hereinafter referred to as: the User).

The User registers by using the "My eID" electronic identification service, after getting acquainted with, and consenting to, the General Terms for the Provision of the Electronic Identification Service and the "My eID" Scheme (General Terms) and the Privacy Policy.

By accepting the General Terms and the Privacy Policy, the User confirms his/her consent for the service provider to keep a record about the User and the use of the "My eID" means, for the purpose of providing the electronic identification service to the User.

The following User personal data shall be collected:

  • Name,
  • Surname,
  • Foreigner’s temporary ID number or foreigner’s file number (EBS)
  • E-mail address
  • Permanent residence (optional, in the event the User declares this)

The service provider shall forward the set of data about the User to the competent authority (the Ministry). The set of data shall include the name and surname, unique personal ID number and/or the foreigner’s temporary ID number or the foreigner’s file number, e-mail address, and the level of certainty of the electronic identification means used for authenticating the User on the eID Portal.

Personal data processing

Within the framework of the Service, the Ministry, as the data processor shall process the User’s personal data in accordance with the law, in respect of the reason of the stay, and/or permanent settlement, namely: personal data, citizenship, data about the passport/foreigner’s ID card, proof of the means of subsistence, social insurance evidence, data about education/specialization, professional training, internship, scientific research work and other scientific research activities, proof of marriage and/or cohabitation and/or kinship, evidence regarding religious service, evidence of the need for medical care, proof of ownership of real estate.

The aforementioned data shall be kept for three years, in accordance with the law.

The Ministry may forward the aforementioned User’s personal data serving as evidence corroborating the reason for granting the stay, to other authorities, which shall process the data in accordance with the purpose and the requirements prescribed by a special law.

When using the Service, the Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment, as the processor of the User’s personal data, shall process the system access data and the data about the use of the Service (user name, IP address used for access, date and time of access), which shall be stored for 10 years, in accordance with the law regulating eGovernment.

In providing the Service to the User, it is guaranteed that the User’s personal data shall be used in accordance with the regulations in the area of personal data protection, and that the integrity and confidentiality of the personal data shall not be compromised in any manner whatsoever.

Personal data protection shall be implemented in accordance with the law regulating the right of natural persons to personal data protection.

When providing the Service, the User is guaranteed that his personal data will be used in accordance with the regulations in the field of personal data protection, and that the integrity and confidentiality of personal data will not be compromised in any way.

This Service has been created in accordance with information security standards.
